The Effect of Leadership and Work Environment on Job Satisfaction and Performance of Village Officials in Bakas Village, Banjarangkan District, Klungkung Regency

This study aims to analyze the influence of leadership and work environment on job satisfaction and performance of village apparatus, with job satisfaction serving as a mediating variable, in Bakas Village, Banjarangkan Sub-district, Klungkung Regency. The background of this research stems from the challenges of suboptimal performance among village officials, which are suspected to be influenced by ineffective leadership styles and less supportive working conditions. A quantitative approach was employed using a saturated sampling technique, involving all 64 village officials as respondents. Data analysis techniques included multiple linear regression and the Sobel test to examine mediation effects. The results indicate that leadership and work environment significantly affect both job satisfaction and employee performance. Furthermore, job satisfaction is proven to mediate the influence of leadership and work environment on performance. These findings suggest that enhancing participative leadership and improving a conducive work environment can positively impact the satisfaction and performance of village officials in delivering public services.
