PENGARUH PERBEDAAN MEDIA PEMELIHARAAN TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN DAN KELANGSUNGAN HIDUP BELUT SAWAH (MONOPTERUS ALBUS)
The effect of Rearing Media Variation on Growth and Survival Rate of Asian Swamp Eel (Monopterus albus)

Swamp eel (Monopterus albus) is one of the freshwater aquaculture commodities with high economic value and strong environmental adaptability. One of the key factors in the cultivation of Monopterus albus is the type of rearing media, which can affect growth and survival rate. This study aimed to determine the effect of different rearing media on the growth and survival rearing media on the growth and survival of Monopterus albus. The research was conducted at the wet Labotatory of the Faculty of Fisheries, Universitas 45 Mataram, using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three type of rearing media: clean water (P1), mud (P2), and sand (P3), each with four replications. The observed parameters included specific growth rate (SGR), specific length growth rate (SLGR), survival rate (SR), feed conversion ratio (FCR), and water quality (temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, and ammonia). The analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed that rearing media had a significant effect on SGR and SR (α < 0,05), but not on SLGR (α > 0.05). the best (lowest) FCR was recorded in the mud (1.85), while the highest was in the clean water media (2.23). water quality during the study remained within acceptable ranges for monopterus albus, with temperature ranging from 25-270C, pH 6.5-7.3, dissolved oxygen 4.65-6.2 mg/L. based on the result, mud (P2) is considered the most optimal rearing medium, as it closely resemble the natural habitat of Monopterus albus.
