Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of inflation, GDP, and electricity consumption on unemployment rates in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand during the period 2005 to 2022. Using panel data regression methods via Stata software, the findings reveal that inflation has a significant positive effect on unemployment at a 90% confidence level, while GDP and electricity consumption have significant negative effects on unemployment. The F-test indicates that the independent variables collectively contribute significantly to the model. The primary contribution of this research lies in providing deeper insights into the relationship between macroeconomic factors and unemployment in Southeast Asia, which can serve as a basis for policymakers in formulating more effective unemployment reduction strategies in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand. These findings also enrich the literature on the impact of economic policies on labor markets in developing countries within the region.
