This study aims to describe the challenges faced by first-year students in using mathematical computer applications. A survey method with a quantitative descriptive approach was employed. The results indicate that first-year students still encounter various tangible obstacles when adapting to mathematical computer applications in higher education. The primary challenge stems from difficulties in linking mathematical concepts to the applications (41%), followed by technical and software syntax issues (38%), and psychological anxiety regarding new technology (21%). The root cause of these challenges lies in the students' foundational knowledge, encompassing both their understanding of mathematical concepts and their familiarity with computer systems.
