Seed quality in fish or shellfish cultivation is an important factor that influences success in the fisheries industry. One of the challenges faced is the low survival rate of larvae, which is caused by limited egg yolk reserves and the less than optimal ability of the larvae's stomach to absorb artificial feed. In addition, fish larvae are more attracted to moving food, such as natural feed in the form of phytoplankton and zooplankton which are abundant in nature. Along with the development of technology, natural feed can now be cultivated to support the growth of fish larvae. Rotifers, especially Brachionus plicatilis, are one type of natural feed that is effective for use in fish larval cultivation, because their size is in accordance with the mouth opening of the larvae and their high nutritional content. This study aims to examine the technique of mass culture of rotifers and their potential use in supporting fish larval cultivation. Mass culture of rotifers was carried out in concrete tanks of various sizes, and maintenance was carried out for 4-5 days using the phytoplankton Nannochloropsis oculata as the main feed. The results showed that rotifers could be optimally harvested on the 4th to 5th day with a population density of 126 individuals/ml, which could then be given to fish larvae to support their growth. Cultivation techniques and harvesting at the right time have been proven to increase the availability of natural food to support the success of fish larva cultivation.
